2013-04-25; 7:45am, Thursday. Sunny, clear, bright and seasonal! Diary: Birthday attention, cultural coffee, web and house work. ~~An attention for Tammy’s half way - to ninety - birthday, coffee and conversation - cultural and social - with Shirley and a start on my website form.~~ Yesterday I dropped off my birthday card and treat for Tammy, leaving it with Roy who was at his store. I continued from there to pick up Shirley for our coffee talk, which took place at the Wave on Ninth and Seventeenth, which is our preferred location. We roamed the field from Arthur, via Plato to Gilbran, all articulated with some jokes, humour and personal stories. Just like the Leighton Gallery visit, this one was an uplifted one as I call that for myself, a celebration of a much appreciated and enduring friendship. I finalised uploading the audio presentation of last Sunday’s and the related file updates and send emails with links for my site to JK and Shirley. I had given Shirley a copy of my poem relating to my talk and the Boston bombings. She responded by telling me about her writing poems in her youth. This prompted our mutually relating the process of inspired composition while writing one word after another, not knowing which one will be next. Last night I got started on collecting my ‘formwork’, not to pour concrete as in construction, but to have a working way for visitors to leave a comment. Once that works, I’ll be ready to put my site ‘out there’ by means of alerting the search ‘engines’ to this new comer. Before I take that bold step, I do want to have all my categories marked up for microdata detection, the way I have my Daily Entry category. It is all a part of the publishing operation, but my skills were too weak and limited until now to go over to this publication stage. I did do some house cleaning in that my apartment is vacuumed now. Next are the floors and bathroom, with the laundry due either today or tomorrow. Coffee with John later on, which will be my chance to get a bit more change for the laundry machines. Writings: Narrative talk idea gathering. ~~The importance of a formed narrative that frames My Belief in a general sense, is now emerging. Some related basic concepts and a new insight about celebration are described.~~ I am in the process of framing my next talk. It will be in the theme of ‘weaving the narrative of My Belief’. This morning I identified the qualities of robustness and comprehensiveness, but then comfort, motivation and inspiration also floated into my awareness. Robust in the sense that the narrative places both good and evil within its framework, not just the pleasant and admirable. The robustness implies that one stays the course of the narrative even though contrarian events buffet one’s philosophy of live, that is, the narrative at hand. Comprehensiveness means that all phenomenon and experiences in the human realm must be acknowledged and accommodated in the framework, with ethical judgement to be exercised afterward. We are not allowed to use ethical disapproval as a means of not dealing with a phenomenon or an experience, because this builds a bias and results in a steering a faulty course, which result in wrong measures, misdirected actions and regrettable outcomes. However, the new insight of this morning is that each human wisdom tradition is an anthem to the Mystery that is Existence Divine and that we should celebrate the way each one of our handed down traditions reveals aspects of this Existence Divine. Celebrating this bouquet of wisdom’s flowers opens the way to mutual validation and honouring of the diverse gifts in understanding that each tradition holds up for us to assimilate and enjoy. And in this celebral act we lend meaning to our existence as we enhance Existence Divine. <8:40am~
