2013-06-04; 9:28am, Tuesday. Sunny, clear and temps rising! Diary: Movie report, fourteen years considered. ~~Shirley and I were well entertained by ‘Still Mine’ and I muse about two fourteen year stretches in my life.~~ I’m not sure about making an entry today, since I’m kind of busy preparing for my trip. However, a few notes I do want to make. The movie Shirley and I saw last night at the Globe was titled ‘Still Mine’ and deals with the theme of being old in the body as the couple - of course - gets to deal with dementia for her and new rules in society for him. The acting is excellent except for the kid scenes, which are over the top. The story reminded me of ‘On Golden Pond’ from back in around 1990 with Henry Fonda and Catherine Hepburn. ‘Still Mine’ is well worth the time and money, but the audience was minimal. Shirley and I had a animated coffee at ‘The Wave’, exchanging experiences in our lives, as we have known each other for twenty years! Her new car looks just dandy for her and she obviously is very pleased with it. I left my one and only plane with her for some care. This morning I mused a bit about my being retired for fourteen years and compared that stretch with the one starting in 1959, when I landed in Canada and the year we arrived in Calgary in 1973. This latter stretch of fourteen years seems to be more significant than the one just behind me. On the other hand, this makes me realise that these last fourteen years maybe more significant than I let on, to my self. And that is the point that needs some more pondering and I did not want to loose that, so I wrote about it now. Last night I did post my entry and sent Herman the talk description. That wording resonates with me and I know it will be a good reference to help me focus the material for this upcoming talk. And that is all folks for today and the next few days, most likely. <9:46am~ Writings: ~~ ~~
