2016-01-08; 8:19am, Friday. Morning light, cleared sky and cold today. Diary: Coffee walk, book buy and lunch. ~~I combine coffee with John and a book stop on my walk back and forth along Fourth and webwork. Today I prepare for lunch with Herman and stop early to take chair photos.~~ Yesterday John and I managed to meet for a coffee, but he told me that next Fall his office may move back to Shaw’s main campus, which will be more inconvenient for the both of us. I walked both ways and stopped at ShelfLifeBooks on the way back. There I picked up an unusual book for half price at 15$, titled “Canada 365” - Every Day Tells a Story - 2015, Collins. It struck me that this would be a good way to learn some Canadian anecdotal history, complete with ‘illuminations’ on every page. For today the Inuk artist Kenojuak Ashevak is featured for her visual art work recognised with the 2008 Gov-Gen Award. She drew the famous “Enchanted Owl”, which made it onto a Canada Post stamp. Each page has a side bar as well as a footer reporting birthdays, such as Lister Sinclair’s in 1921 for tomorrow, which also shows the cast of “Little Mosque on the Prairie”! In the evening I posted my daily entry for the day. But, more importantly, I located the php files I was looking for. These date back to my work of last May on simplifying adding pictures to my Daily Entry posts. The solution in principle is there, but now I need to simplify it to a ‘production’ routine. This will not be easy, since I need to access my local Apache server to scale the images down to web size. It is now or never, as I have tried something like this several times before. Later on lunch with Herman, which activity was suspended over the holidays this year. We’ll have lots to talk about and I’ll take along two 2015 calendars which have some special images. One is of Twente, Herman’s home ground and the other - Taschen - depicts the detail of souls entering ‘Earthly Paradise’ as painted by Hieronymus Bosch during 1505- 1515 in his oeuvre “Paradise and Hell“. It shows the much reported ‘light tunnel’ of modern near death experience descriptions! Besides these images I have at least half a dozen articles to share! For now I’ll close off, because I want to take some photos of my easy chair in preparation for its re-upholstering event, which is my Christmas present by Tammy and John! <9:14am all told~ Writings: ~~None~~
