Diary: New Years events recounted:

~~Recounting events from a firing tower to Saskatchewan fish I open my daily entries for 2018.~~

My first entry for 2018 is here! This required a new folder this morning and more updating for my website files this evening, as I switch from 2017 to 2018 year designations in the standard files and folders.

New Year’s arrived uneventfully as I stayed home and watched events of 2018’s arrival on the local CTV-Calgary channel. On it I saw fireworks erupting from the Calgary Tower! I said: “Wait a minute I can see this from my kitchen window!” And so I did! A neat sight, never shown before except for the burning of the flame. A new event flamed-in the New Year, how appropriate!

Yesterday coffee with John who had a relaxing year change over with Tammy as their daughter slept over at friends. On New Year’s day Elisabeth and I met at 2nd cup on !7th and 4th. I brought my Lindt chocolates to divide up evenly, which event Elisabeth can be counted on to enjoy. On the way over I had a chance meeting with Ina, my former wife. I walked up with her for a bit and wished each other the best for 2018.

My aim is to explore making some more social contacts as our Palliser group has become too small over the last number of years.

On Sunday - in that deep cold spell - I went by bus to Knox United for a regular Sunday service as our CLEC Palliser meet was cancelled for just this Sunday. My aim is to explore making some more social contacts as our Palliser group has become too small over the last number of years. In that vein I plan to at least phone the Knox office and I have signed up for their email already.

At ten I’ll phone Regan whom I met by chance as I returned from Knox last Sunday as he boarded my bus. He told me that his bankcard was not working, so I gave him two twenties to tide him over. Today we plan to meet for a coffee to even the account!
Last but not least, Tieneke called on New Year’s Eve, Okkie sent a ‘Blast’ card without text! And Metta called from Victoria all for the occasion of this year’s switch over. Last night Michelle dropped by to say hello returning from her family visit and promised me some Saskatchewan fish, which she also did last year I notice on my ‘Tieneke’ weekly calendar from last year!
