I was out for my paper, Globe and Metro-Star, a chilly walk in the shade with a breeze, however we’re headed for above seasonal temps this week!
Yesterday I spent about 120$$ at Safeway for my monthly shopping which worked out to 4$$ per item on average. When I started here in 2003 that was about 1$ per item! I priced my groceries in Zeist, NL the same way in 2002, which worked out to about one Euro per item or about 1$20 for here then.
In the mean time I have reduced my meat consumption to about half with the recommended three meatless meals a week. This helps my stomach and my wallet, two flies in one slap, as we say in Dutch!
Eddie still had breakfast with us last Monday a week and now we are to commemorate his life.
Also yesterday my old colleague Angus send me the sad tiding that our colleague Ed Bunn had past on, with a service to be held around supper time today. Eddie still had breakfast with us last Monday a week and now we are to commemorate his life. Such is life at our age, but Eddie left us suddenly last Sunday on the way to church.
I worked quite closely with Ed when both of us were programme supervisors. I was a newbie and his advice and guidance were welcome to me, was easily given and very practical. Thanks Ed and I know you will be at peace in the place of your belief.
Later at noon I plan to meet friends at the Knox United and may stop at the ShelfLifeBooks for a look around on the way back.
