First entry since the 7th this instance. No particular excuses, just taking early morning walks and reading the paper! I am retired after all!
Yesterday breakfast with colleagues, where I found out that another colleague’s memorial had been last Saturday. I’d received no tidings of this, so I missed Lorne Dalrymple’s memorial, which is too bad as I really liked him for the person he was. It was expected Art informed me, as Lorne had been dealing with a cancer for some time.
That makes for five people in my close circle departing from this life in the body, over the last two years. It does give me reason to think about the fragility of life once you are close to eighty or passed that, as I am.

This morning John phoned me for a coffee as he is returning to work from last week’s study conference in Vegas. Eighteen thousand participants each paying about 25k$$! Was that a gamble or was it worth it! John also gave some hints about fixing the latest Firefox update shemozzle.
Last Sunday Dorothy spoke on the Mother’s day theme at the Palliser. Fine talk, which touched me personally. The tape recorder had some hick ups in the recording mechanism making the end of the speech hard to follow. Dorothy and I may try to fix that once she returns from her trip.
I borrowed Diamond’s “The World until Yesterday” from the Calgary library, but have decided to order it, as I will be interacting with this book. The author is my age and his world view comes close to mine, except that I am attempting to frame the human experience into a perspective that addresses our situation today.
