Yesterday was laundry day to good effect! The weather was sunny and high in the twenty, so I had a morning and an evening walk as I knew that these summer like temps are unusual right now, as today’s weather proves.
On Sunday Tieneke called and we had a long catch-up conversation. She has some walking issues, but seems to manage. Jan’s mental capabilities are slowly deteriorating and have been now for some time. A tough row to how, but my sis can find a way through most of the time.
Our late sister Els’ her condo has been sold and will be cleared out by a contractor. So the place where I stayed with its good memories from my 2014 visit is now no longer familiar territory, sad to say.
In a way Els’ her pad was an extension of our parental home still, though our parents passed on in 1997!
It was a home place still for me in the old country, since staying with Tien or Okkie is not an option. In a way Els’ her pad was an extension of our parental home still, though our parents passed on in 1997! But, sentiments do not follow the logic of the years and so that family home feeling remained as Els and I were close as siblings for so many years.
Last night I reviewed the notes for my upcoming talk on June 10. I have quite extensive notes, but not all relate to my ‘conciliation’ talk topic. My main task now is to arrange the relevant notes into a flowing train of thought that can be put into a presentation.
Last Friday I gave Herman my August talk write up when we met for lunch. The topic is “World Belief Teachings”, made up of five main points. I sense an increasing synergy in my theme of ‘World Belief’ which aims at learning to cope with the diversity of identities that is part and parcel of our human existence. Finding a way to live with this diversity has become urgent in our time and its lack is starting to prevent humanity from moving forward effectively.
