Diary: Beginning June overview:

~~This first June entry recaps my activities of June up to this 19th June day!~~

Doing laundry again. Yesterday last spring breakfast with my old colleagues with ten showing, but we did loose two of us this year. Rest in peace and celebration to them.

John, Tammy and Annie treated me to a father’s day lunch last Sunday, at one of the new restaurants here along 4th street. They even picked me up from the Palliser after my Sunday meeting there. Good food and a pleasant conversation, with Annie listening in while looking at her e-pad. Thanks guys, also for the card that combined ‘great grandpa with great dad‘ so cleverly!

I have not made an entry since May 29 I noticed. Partly because May 31 was my late sister Els’ birthday and this year being the first time I could not talk to her. I’m still sad about this as I write. I was also busy with my spring talk for June 10th, titled ‘World belief Conciliation‘. Attendance was six all told, but appreciative of my presentation. I still need to post the related essay on my website.

Last Thursday I finally met up with my lawyer to sign my documents, being will, attorney power and personal directive. At my age these documents take on a much greater significance than when I was 65. But, my lawyer did give me a small bouquet of the peony flowers blooming in her garden! How kind!

Earlier this month Lilac fest on the 3rd, very pleasant lunch with Shirley at Taster Market by SAIT on the 6th and that kind of fills the blank left by the non-entries from earlier this month. Time for laundry switch.
And back at 9:39am, with coffee at ten with John awaiting.

Writings: Our human species considered:

~~ I consider our human species global wide problems, yesterday’s priorities and the need for an attitude reset.~~

This morning I started thinking about USA prez Trump’s policy regarding the refugees that come in from Central America, treating them as criminals until so dis-proven. Trump is trying to stop that flow which has flowed for decades and in the EU there is a similar problem of unwanted immigrants and asylum seekers.

In both cases these people are fleeing conditions at home that are far worse and more dangerous than what they face by making those desperate journeys. This we can learn from the personal accounts by these travelers conveyed to the various journalists. These 'refugees' are escaping a mixture of social prejudice and economic destitution.

But there is also a state economic policy underlying this lack of economic and social security. In the Central and Mexican cases, children are fleeing the recruitment by drug gangs in their local. Why those drug gangs? Because the farmer grow drugs for which there is a market, while regular crops are kept out by the USA and the EU in favour of their local farmers who have political pull. The latter are heavily subsidised and costing the consumer and tax payers dearly.
Those from the other world are far from the homes and hearths of those farmers, their local neighbours and ruling politicians.!
Coffee time; now with lunch done too, I’m back at 11:20am, with the last load due in ten minutes.

Today many of our human activities are globalised and this needs to be followed by changes in our attitude and intent

Today many of our human activities are globalised and this needs to be followed by changes in our attitude and intent. That is, we must learn to view our interests as that of our human species as a whole, rather than of racial, continental or national interests.

It is far more expansive for the global taxpayer to finance the wars that are now conducted and the many maintained military bases, than to find solutions to the ill distribution of human wellbeing. We are all in this together now, so let’s act together on solutions that benefits the human species as a whole and save money to boot.
