Five years ago Calgary was flooded out with about 80 thousand people displaced. Today the rivers flow low and the reservoirs are ready for much water. We could even leave our selves short! Last night Shirley called to reminisce a bit over this, as well as to air her disgust with Trump. We plan to meet next week for a ‘flood beer’!
Yesterday was a busy day for me, starting off a bit late, then reading the paper and lunch, followed by my visit to Knox United. Back home at 1:30pm and then on to see Rene at the Rocky View taking buses 3 & 20, with very good connections out and back.
Rene enjoyed a smoke while we had our coffee that he bought us - such a gentleman.
Rene and I went out in the area along the bike path, where I’d passed so often biking and walking even around the Glenmore reservoir! Rene enjoyed a smoke while we had our coffee that he bought us - such a gentleman. While there John texted me to change our meet from Thursday to Wednesday, which took me soon back home to meet him at James for a lump and a horn. (A bite with beer; air force expression!)
In the evening I went over some of my finances in prep for Friday’s meet and also to define a plan to pay-off my line of credit. Live frugally with intent to get it done.
John and I chatted also about the various youth friends he and Metta have known, some of whom are now barely functioning adults, even though their schooling and family life was similar to our own. Making your way in life as a functioning adult is not a given, even when the early years look quite promising. It makes me a bit sad to see this happening, but there are also many other stories of resilience and ‘good’ results.
Last Tuesday I posted my first daily entry since May 29, as well as my talk essay“World Belief Conciliation”. I noticed last night that I am now four talks behind in posting them to my website, so there is work to do in ‘Tony’s Shoppe of Thought’!
