Diary: Daily entries resumed and more:

~~Weather thoughts, birthday lunch, Palliser meet, coffee schedules and restarting regular daily entries.~~

Fall’s weather is giving us a foretaste today with rain, wind and low temps near 7dC. But coming Wednesday will be nice as Jack and I will have our common birthday lunch, his is in April and mine in August! We aim for a patio lunch enjoying the gift of summer weather as an added birthday benefit.

This morning I had coffee with John who was on holidays two weeks ago with Tammy and Annie, while last week Metta’s visit from Victoria caused us to just meet for just last Friday morn at 8am
. That day I also caught up on my daily entries for all of August would you belief and met with Rene at 10:30am and later with Don around 12noon at Kingsland. I bought some fruit there and had soup with bread for lunch. In the aft I completed my daily entry with a long writings section titled ‘Calling examined’, as my commentary on the foregoing Wednesday Knox United noon hour session.

Last Sunday I met with friends at the Palliser where Hanna spoke to an audience of about eight hearers. I looked after the music, but managed to wipe out part of the pre-recorded closing song, so we had to sing a-cappella. I confused the record button for the power one as I was readying to play the tape. On top of that it was the backup tape that I was using, showing that one backup is not enough. Now what?

Today I decided to start again with making my daily entries first thing after breakfast as has been my habit for years even when using pen and paper.

Today I decided to start again with making my daily entries first thing after breakfast as has been my habit for years even when using pen and paper. The news paper will have to wait, the more so since I read news on the internet, so I can afford to reduce my news intake. I will just buy the Globe on Wednesdays and the weekends, saving about ten dollars a week.

I have found that making my daily entries regularly is ‘therapeutic’, especially when I read the print out of the posting on my website in the evening. Break. The bell rang and the roofer is here to fix the roof finally after several years of leaks. He needs two or three days to remove the gravel and then install the new sealer over top the old tar cover. It is raining today, but the rest of the week looks good.

Writings: Talk description preparation:

~~I explore ways to formulate the basic themes for my talk that need to be reflected in the short brochure description for it.~~

I have started lining up some ideas for the description of my November talk titled “World Belief Destiny”. That description has to be ready for the fall brochure that is coming up soon. It always ends up to be the kernel of the message I want to convey and has to be basic, concise and motivating all at the same time!

For example with ‘destiny’ I do not mean ‘destination’, but rather the attitude to adopt to have a good destiny, keeping in mind that aim should be balanced by way as we make our way in existence. An other aspect is that existence is a mystery to the conscious human, and remains that way no matter how much we discover and know, because our consciousness is inherently limited.
These are basic factors that we know about our way of ‘being in the world’ and need to be acknowledged in order to chart a reliable and beneficial guide.

The former leads to strive and possibly destruction, with the latter leads to collapse in lethargy.

Over emphasis on aim leads to damaging execution and processes, while favouring way results in avoidance of needed disruption and painful restructuring. The former leads to strive and possibly destruction, with the latter leads to collapse in lethargy. Historic examples are the ancient Hellenic empire of Alexander the Great of trying to hard, while the Ottoman empire illustrates changing too little.

So far my preparatory thoughts for the mentioned description, which is limited to 25 words all told! Good luck you might say:)! <10:00am~
