Yesterday’s entry made it onto my website and was printed out for later contemplation; see below. In the aft I spent two hours sorting and cleaning several accumulation piles of magazines, daily paper articles, notes and more. This to good results, but more sorting piles are awaiting my attention.
It was just books, magazines and papers at that time, with computers peeking around the corner! Internet? What do you mean?
Today I plan to say good bye to Calgary’s Castell library, which will end its existence as such this coming November. This is when our new library will take over the function of the old Castell, which dates back to the late sixties.
It was quite up to date when we came to Calgary as a family in 1973, but much has changed since then and not in the least for libraries, which deal with information. It was just books, magazines and papers at that time, with computers peeking around the corner! Internet? What do you mean? A net of interns possibly?
John and I had our 8am coffee yesterday, but I did not buy a paper as I have done in the past. Yesterday’s big news is that Canada is now allowed in on the ‘NAFTA’ negotiations. Today’s papers will be full of ifs ands and buts on this, but … we will have to wait until the dust settles to get a good reading of what lies ahead.
Canada’s wolverine has yet to come to the table. One option would be that Canada just opts to stick to the present agreement if Trump imposes his 25% car tariff, which would be illegal under the present agreement! Or Canada may let go of the Milk Marketing Boards as it did with the Wheat board. Like I said, the dust has to settle before we can see!
