Diary: Fourteen days report:

~~I catch up with my daily entries hiatus filling it with my many activities. Here we go!~~

Last entree was two weeks ago! That is quite a stretch and without a good excuse to boot. What can I say? Am I lazy or loosing interest; possibly some of both. However, here I am again picking up the thread of my daily entries.

Last Thursday the 13th I took in the Calgary Theatre play “Honour Beat” by . It addressed the effect of residential schools regime on the daily life of Canada’s Indigenous children and society. The play makes clear the impact this treatment had on the identity of the survivors over the generations, which has remained fractured and discontinuous for many a generation, continuing today. Cast and playwright are all Indigenous, which is as it should be and good to see, making the play’s message a convincing one.
Sadly, the seat beside me remained empty as Shirley could not make it for this performance; better next one I hope.

This is part of a new plan that also includes sorting books on Thursdays and house cleaning on Fridays, while Wednesday is open plus my Knox visit, Saturday is Globe and Mail day and Sunday is dedicated to my CLEC friends meet at the Palliser.

On the 14th Herman and I had our lunch at Blackfoot and on the 20th Don and I had our last meet at Kingsland as it closes at the end of this month. This site of the former McKay’s car dealership has been sold for development.

On the 22nd Michelle and I shopped at Ikea, prompted by my lack of candles, which supply is now replenished. I also picked up a new set of bed sheets, a few tea towels and a solid candle holder. After this stop Michelle wanted to see the ‘Italian Store’ at Fairmont, which I’d been raving about. That was a good choice as the food choices there are many and the prices reasonable; were home again after this pleasant five hour outing.
On the intervening Sun- and Wednesdays I visited with friends at respectively the Palliser and Knox United. Last Sunday I also visited Sunterra groceries at Britannia, a first for me.

Yesterday I did a minimum of sorting and today I doing some writing. This is part of a new plan that also includes sorting books on Thursdays and house cleaning on Fridays, while Wednesday is open plus my Knox visit, Saturday is Globe and Mail day and Sunday is dedicated to my CLEC friends meet at the Palliser.

This is my newly designed plan to keep my feet to the fire of necessary things to do. I have set minimum of one hour per day to a max of four, so as to not overdo things at my ripe old age of 82. In between all these activities there are the Safeway shopping and laundry days. All supplemented with some other social event, such as coffees with my son John or friends and my monthly breakfast with old colleagues last Monday the 17th!

'I go there because I want to learn to become more tolerant', Jeltsje tells me …

Also, last Sunday I had a long phone conversation with Jeltsje in Apeldoorn, NL a mutual friend of my late sister Els, who is missed by the both of us. Jeltsje still plans to go to Aswan for the winter in spite of her difficulties with walking. “I go there because I want to learn to become more tolerant” she tells me and I know from her missives from there, that she finds that difficult to do. But determined as she is this objective is this in her sights. I wished her strength, endurance and good luck. We’ll talk before she goes.

And that is it folks, I did my writing be it not in the morning, at night is just as well. And at 8:26pm I’ll fill the hour after editing and emailing for web posting and preps; now at 8:46pm.
