Diary: Odds and ends:

~~Scattered interrupted activities interspersed with rest pauses!~~

A minimal activity note follows. John and I have coffee after I complete my breakfast and I give him the Canadian veterans’ 100 day WW1 commemorative issue to read. After coffee I go for my ‘Globy’ and return home.

There I try to make a start on my writings relating to last Sunday talk, but I get interruption.

There I try to make a start on my writings relating to last Sunday talk, but I get interruption. In the aft after lunch and snooze I call Thomas to say hello. Some more writing, photos for an email to Jeltsje in Egypt. Another snooze followed by cooking dinner, emailing and news browsing. And, finally I complete the writing text below.

Writings: Talk central thoughts:

~~I elaborate on the two central ideas of my talk titled “World Belief Destiny”.~~

Before starting this entry I completed the entry of the 11th of this month with a short reference to my talk of last Sunday.<10:26am.
1:39pm> continuing:

“Humans bring conscious understanding to the mystery of existence, which is a unique contribution that our species has made and continues to do.

The title for this talk is “World Belief Destiny” and on Saturday 19th I finally composed a rough version as preparation for my talk by the same name. This was more of a last minute preparation than I’ve made for a long time. I had no shortage of notes or ideas, but I could not complete a composition that consisted of ‘flowing presentation framework’. So, it was with this looming final deadline pressure that I forced myself to compose one that did work, albeit lacking some finesse and smooth flow.

I know I have to edit this essay and rework it, but for now I want to mention two central quotes. The first is taken from Talk section ‘4.outcome‘:
“Humans bring conscious understanding to the mystery of existence, which is a unique contribution that our species has made and continues to do.”
<:2:00pm and continuing at 8:06pm>
Second is the closing statement of the talk:

“Accepting our human traditions, our modern sciences and the political reality on our planet, we have a basis from which to formulate a belief that is valid for our time and guide our human community into the near future.”

These are the two central concept of my presentation. The first one refers to our human destiny as conscious beings in the totality of existence. The second statement indicates our task to formulate a belief that is valid for the totality of humankind today based on what we now know about ourselves as conscious beings living in the mystery of existence.

The essay for this talk by the same title I have renamed ‘draft1’, as it is rather choppy and needs to be edited substantially, as mentioned. The end result I will post under ‘Topicals’ on my website once I catch up with myself :-)!
<8:45pm.
