Diary: Late winter weather editing documents and image copying:

~~Winter is giving us a late handshake, Elisabeth and I complete the editing and I copy images with unwanted multiples.~~

Winter is making a last attempt, before it becomes unseasonal to do so. However, yesterday aft the sun shone and the snow melted with a vengeance! So, spring is pushing back.

Yesterday Elisabeth and I spent from around 11:30am to about 4pm making changes to her report. We had our debates back and forth about how the wording should be, but it was all in good humour and fun as well. The report is due on Thursday, so that should work out alright for her. I have spent about fifteen (15) hours on this exercise all together and I learned something, because I never before edited a document in Word.

I posted three entries on my website last nite and set up an image folder ‘Sacred-Religious’ with eighty four (84) images. These are intended for my talks as possible illustrations and link images in the talks catalogue pages.

I manipulated the mouse in the wrong way, causing it to make copies twice over as I was selecting images to be copied. It was quite time consuming to eliminate these unwanted copies and to correct my mouse technique. However, the folder is in place now and the images ready to be incorporated as links in my proto-catalogue presentations file, my talks file for short!

Today is shopping day, so I’ll be out this aft visiting the local Safeway by car, since walking back with two filled grocery bags is not advisable right now. But, as I write this I am thinking that I could shop somewhere else, since I am by car anyway. Still, I know this store and many of the personnel, so that would be a disadvantage so go some where else right now.

Writings: Exploring the god image idea continued:

~~The validity of the god image as a projection is explained and presented as a possible boundary phenomenon in the human experience.~~

I thought some more about the idea of ‘god-image’. I would define it as that which a human holds as his or her most high value and guiding principle for it self and its community, all within the related/held belief framework. This image is a projected ideal of what is striven for to realise and to be guided by within such a frame work, which in turn orders the daily experience of such an individual and its community.

To say that it is a projected ideal, is in recognition of the fact that we humans function that way psychologically. We project when we are engaged in doing something that we want to create or bring about, such making a sketch of a route, a song or explaining a course of action.

In addition we must remember that explaining and understanding the functioning of a process does not change the validity of such a process. We describe in an attempt may help us understand certain actions and possibly improve or change the outcomes.

Using an explanation as a means to invalidate a process as archaic or delusional, is a power play and an attempt to put our version of reality as superior. Each version of reality is a projection that is made for a certain purpose, which will remain valid no matter what the explanation of its process.

Keeping in mind the above argument, we can ask after the functionality of the god-image in a respectful and validating manner. To me this functionality, at least in part, is to bring into the assimilated conscious awareness certain values, behaviours and understandings about the human experience.

This assimilation will reach a stage where the projected aspects will become a part of the daily functioning for that individual and/or community. It becomes part of the ’ego’ that we deploy in our daily functioning, such as when crossing the street or bargaining for a price reduction.

I see this assimilation process as an ongoing development of the individual over time and across cultures. However, there is always the outer edge, the boundary, to that personal or communal capability. It is here that the operational limit is experienced in the experience of being vulnerable in the face of the challenge at hand.

This is where the projected ideal and power has and retains its validity. It is the means through which we are able to carry on, knowing that not all things are dependent on our own power. And it is the condition under which revelation can be and is experienced, reminding us humans that existence is an interactive process. A process, engaging us in this mystery that we are getting to know by means of such revelations and experiences, as our handed down wisdoms inform us.
<8:36am and 9:23am with editing~
