Diary: House work web essays smart phones and a computer chat:

~~Relating about work on my web essay category, followed by results from a shopping trip to Chinook.~~

Yesterday evening I did do the rest of the vacuuming and some webwork. The latter involved having the image in the essay (topicals) catalogue file for a certain essay, also appear in the head of that particular essay. I also had to make the return link images the same for each essay, getting back to that catalogue list.

This was made more complicated by the varying content and location of the image folders involved. These are now getting more complex and larger, with no overall structure. House keeping or CMS (Content Management) is called for and this will have to be next no doubt.

First, I do want to finish finalising the essays text content, which will mean rereading and maybe some restructuring to break up the large sections of text with some sub headings.

I visited Chinook Shopping Centre to talk to some one about the smart phone choices. The young lady in the upper level TELUS store was very informative and helpful. She told me that Samsung’s Notes-2 is more expensive than the new BlackBerry Z10, which surprised me. This phone is a bit larger, but since you can make the keyboard display in its width, this is no longer a factor.

A cell phone holds no interest for me, because I want to see how my web site works out for the mobile environment. However, for this I do not need a phone contract since I’ll be able to use the Wi-Fi network at home and the places in the city. A sim card would give me the phone function, but it costs 25 cents per minute and that rate is higher than on most plans. So for now, I’ll keep looking.

I also stopped at Chapter’s web design books section and chatted with a young man who asked me whether I was doing web design. As we chatted a bit, he told me that he was completing courses at Sait in the IT-department. I told him that I learned to programme in Fortran, which he knew about, but he works with Perl, which is a closed book to me. He recommended a PHP and MySQL text to me, which I already have, but I’m not that interested in data bases, so it does not get much use.
I did look at some small thin books about web design for mobiles, but did not buy any. I have one at home, but don’t know it well enough and therefore did not by any books. However, on the way out I did buy a new summer shirt on sale at the Bay!

Writings: Reluctant writings that surprise me:

~~Surprising musings about the possible uniqueness of being a human being.~~

It is 9:40am and I’m a bit at a loss about writing here about love or hate being an aspect of Existence Divine on account of the fact that we experience those two, among many other such experiences. Are we humans in the human realm making these discoveries as we are consciously aware? It is my intuition that these are uniquely human discoveries of experience of that which is possible in the human realm, within the knowable Mystery that is Existence Divine.

I suspect that these feeling discoveries are unique to the human way of existing and that it us humans who have to learn to live with this and are discovering how to do this, albeit often painfully. It is in this way that we are making a contribution to the wholeness of Existence Divine, which mystery may hold many other ways of being.

So, we are making all these discoveries, choosing and learning about the related outcomes and consequences. And this process has a record, which are the human traditions and the history as we know that, including modern sciences. This means that we must study this record carefully in order to understand our own nature, limitations and possibilities. And of this we ourselves, are in charge!
