Diary: Trip preparations audio conversion and The Elements:

~~Buying soap I meet Poseidon, ‘find’ a new book, prepare for my trip, continue to search for tape to digital solution and finalise my talk web posting.~~

Yesterday I washed my car and bought soap at the Kalamata store on 11th street SW. The man at cash looked like Neptune I told him, but he corrected me, it was to be Poseidon, the Greek name of course. How could I be so ignorant!

Michelle will be so kind to look after my mail, but I plan to have my door key cut for her as yet. Then, at two pm I’ll pick up Thomas, from where we head off to Fairmont, where I will be for a few days enjoying the hot pools and the out doors, such as it is at the camping.

The last touches were laid on my audio web posting, which is all complete now. I visited the Sony and Kenworth? audio stores along 4th street, but they were not able to clear up the conversion from tape to computer any more than I already know and do.

However, at the ShelfLifeBooks store I bought ‘The Elements’ by 2009, a modern publication on all the elements that we now know. There appear to be some, that still have to be found.

Writings: Reading Zealot and the person of Jesus considered:

~~In ‘ZealotJesus as person is sketched as a peasant, but he also is healer and teacher. Are we possibly dealing with a composite in the gospel stories I ask and conclude we must choose which message to apply.~~

I am rereading part two of ‘Zealot’ where explains his understanding about the person Jesus as a peasant with a mission. This I want to reread, because I think Jesus was an Essene apostate.

The third aspect of Jesus is his background as a healer. I suspect a connection here with the Therapeutics of Alexandria. Philo assures that they were present throughout Antiquity and Jesus may have studied with them in Egypt.

All together I am becoming gradually convinced that ‘Jesus’ is a composite figure centered on a popular preacher with a new and liberating message at that time in Roman Palestina, around whom the stories have collected and are projected.

After all the importance is in the message more than it is in the person who brings it, although he and today she, must have authority in order for the message to be accepted.

In our post modern age however, we have become responsible to decide for ourselves, which message and teachings we should adhere to. In the end it is our own judgement that gives us the authority, based on our own life experience and teachings that have been passed down to us. But, what ever is passed down, we still have to accept it, modify it for our time and be willing to apply it to the best of our ability.
