I browsed through two books, one ‘A History of Iran’ by M. Axworthy, the other ‘The Dawn and Twilight of Zoroastrianism' by R.C. Zaehner. In the latter I came across (p.52) a quote from the Qumran Scroll titled the 'Manual of Discipline' that could have been written by Quimby, it read so much alike. It dealt with the good and evil, but the terms used were 'truth and error' in the scroll, while Quimby uses 'wisdom and error'.
[The scroll] deals with the good and evil, but the terms used were 'truth and error' in the scroll, while Quimby uses 'wisdom and error'.
Quimby lived from 1806 to 1866, so crypto mania can be excluded. The latter comes close to photographic recall, which is an ability that some people have. This lead me to consider my concept of ‘continuity of consciousness’ in general existence and across different life times in particular for humans. The latter is analogous to our ability to recall certain events from childhood, but not all.
Recalling childhood events involves crossing a memory span of say forty or fifty years, while the time span between the reincarnation in consecutive life time experiences could be similar in length.
The ability to recall across this boundary of presumed oblivion depends on personal factors one of which is the integration of lived life experiences.
Repression caries across this time span boundary just like memory does. A recall boundary between life times has good reasons, we don’t want to have direct interference in this life time from previous ones. To cross that divide, work needs to be done on integrating one’s present life’s experiences for a start.
This can be difficult in many cases, as our ability to consciously deal with and integrate emotive events, is limited. Just recall the many cases of ‘post traumatic stress disorder’ that have gained acknowledgement in the last few decades.
