The topics that exited me earlier this morn are three, but not of a kind. One deals with the nature of the Polish national identity, the second encourages us to write a letter to a ‘co-human being’ - both of these on Trouw.nl a Dutch news site and the third is the bbc news site article on the cosmic web of dark matter, in English but hard to comprehend.
It was the latter that I found most inspiring, because I plan to speak on interconnectedness in my upcoming talk and in addition this morning it became clear to me that the idea of Existence Divine is comprehensive enough to accommodate this whole new idea of a cosmic web and what ever else may emerge from that.

Cosmic web of dark matter
Coffee is ready and at 10:33am end of break.
I gleaned the following from the cosmic web article while on my break. The dark matter forms a web of filaments, which regulate where ordinary matter goes. Cold, but ordinary matter gasses make this filament web structure visible when these cold gasses are illuminated by the quasar light mentioned in the article. This light makes indirectly visible the dark matter structure and its effect on cold matter gaseous ‘clouds’, but the dark matter itself remaining invisible to us at this time.
The insight that emerged this morning and moved me, was that the concept of Existence Divine accommodates this new discovery naturally and even adding to it in the sense that a potential interconnectedness emerges throughout all of existence.
I say potential, because I view interconnectedness as understood entanglement. To day we are looking at entanglement of all that exists and now we can go to work on understanding some of it and call that consciously understood interconnectedness as we humans discover that and bring to light a small aspect of the mystery that is Existence Divine.
The mentioned article quotes B. Dobroczynski on Polish identity poses that this identity is based on its roman Catholic religion, because the Poles as people converted to Christianity before they had discovered their own identity as a people. This makes their ’people’ identity tied to their religious identity suggests the author.
I have come to a similar insight about the Jewish identity, which is also very closely tied to the religion of the Hebrew cum Jewish cum Israeli identity. This is exemplified by the current new peace negotiation demand by Netanyahu that Israel be recognised as a Jewish state!
This is not what was intended by the United Nation charter back in around 1948 or so. It also negates the separation of religious authority (Church) and secular authority (State), which is the key to the prevention of religious strive within the human community.
But, within the wider semitic cultures, which include the Arabs, but not the Iranians, it is clear that religious law (Sharia) strongly informs secular state law and justice. It is a model that differs from what eventually emerged from old Roman rule in Western Europe and the Americas. And, it must be said, only after much strive, fighting, suffering and destructive behaviour.
The third article of interest was by a retired Dutch Sociology prof K. Schuyt who recommends that we compose a conventional hand written letter, once a week and send it to a ‘mede-mens’, which translates as a ‘with-human’, meaning some one else who you know. This he recommends to counter act the toughening and darkening of our twenty first century.
In his study of the nature of human resistance in the time of WW2 occupation and other situations of repression, the author identified three types of such resistance. Then, later on found that these same types of resistance also apply in our modern society. These types of resistance are: heroic, quiet and rescue types of behaviours different in their effect and practiced by different people. In addition he asserts that we need to continually defend our values and morals against the erosion that takes place in society and need to be re-taught as it were.
The letter writing would accomplish such a goal of reminding writer and recipient of the importance of our human morals and ethics and the need to defend them. This is not unlike Pope Francis’ reminder that you steal from the poor if you are unwilling to share from your wealth.
Oxfam reports that eighty six (86) humans possess as much as the poorest half of humanity, which is made up of three and a half billion persons.
This notion is quite applicable today considering the yesterday’s Oxfam report that eighty six (86) humans possess as much as the poorest half of humanity, which is made up of three and a half billion persons, or the equivalent of one per forty million. But, we must remember there are some rich people at this time that do practice this sharing. These may be examples of the heroic types, whereas the proposed letter writers would be the quiet ones and rescuers are represented by our NGO’s? Why not!
