Yesterday Jack and I had coffee, with the Ukrainian crisis front and center in our discussion. We decided on a plebiscite to be held in each province of the Ukrainian national state. Then, people can vote on whether they want to be a part a new Western type Ukraine, or one that chooses to become a part of the Russian Federation. This is the way additional nations join the EU and New Found Land joined Canada way back in 1949, so why not apply the same method here?
Jack and I decided not to send a letter with this idea to Harper for two reasons. First they were probably listening in for security reasons and already know about our proposed solution. The second reason is that the Harper government has already made up its mind and will stick to it! The latter because of the Ukrainian vote of ten percent here in Canada.
So, after this no brainer, we moved on to more personal topics, which is usually more entertaining and interesting to us both. Jack is still going strong with his seminars and his service at the seniors home. Altogether we talked away two hours, which is standard fare for us.
On the way home I bought a birthday card for Helene, which I’ll post to day, when I shop for groceries. And, I finally got a call from the handy man to fix the ceiling hole, possibly Wednesday or Thursday he said in his message. We’ll see, is my reaction.
I am starting to sense an alignment of activities for my trip in its moved timing position. Awkward construction, but true never the less. It means that I am starting to form ideas and intention about what to take and for whom. I am talking about taking old books from my studies and who to give them too back in Holland, such as the HTW of the Kadaster, which I bought back in 1958 or so. It is this preparation that I need the extra time, for which the planned postponement will now allow.
