Diary: Search for tolerance:

~~I search the internet, library and bookstore for references to tolerance.~~

Yesterday I decided to let the computer do its thing, while I prepared to go out into the nice weather for a walk and some shopping and I did this in the aft as well. It was close to twenty for a high yesterday and that I did not want to miss.

It left my writings for yesterday unfinished, but in the evening I did some search under the string combinations of tolerance, religion, teaching and the four world religion names. I found some material and references, but the search under ‘teaching tolerance’ comes up with little useful material.

Later this morn coffee with John and on the way back I’ll try ‘ShelfLifeBooks’ and the library. The searched sources are more about informing visitors about the four major world religions under the theme of tolerance. The sources do not analyse tolerance, nor examine how it can be taught and that is what I am interested in. I may find something under the CBT - cognitive behavioural therapy - heading!

Writings: Mandala metaphor for world religions:

~~The four main mandala regions represent the world religions with the center enabling their interaction, while preserving character.~~

Referring back to yesterday’s promise, I will now explain how I used my coloured Mandala73 as metaphor in my talk. The main ‘compass’ regions of my mandala show twin tongues coloured red, yellow, green and blue proceeding from the top clockwise around the perimeter. The center of the mandala is an almost solid yellow.

The metaphor comes in by assigning the four world religions to the mentioned tongue pair colours as follows. Starting again at the top red tongue pair we say that this represents Christianity, associating love with red. We then continue in clockwise fashion again with Hinduism - intuition - for the yellow pair, Islam - life - for the green pair and Buddhism - thinking - for the blue pair of tongues.

Next, we associate consciousness with the bright yellow coloured center. This center then represents the bridge that consciousness can become between the various religions.

…while acknowledging that the uniqueness is not solitaire, but shared through a being consciously aware of the other.

This leaves each religion to its full and unique expression and identity, while acknowledging that the uniqueness is not solitaire, but shared through a being consciously aware of the other.

This awareness, once established and acknowledged, can then be allowed and encouraged to grow and develop into a mutual respecting exchange of teachings, experiences and practices even. The latter for example, could be celebrations, dances, songs and theatre.
