Diary: Canada Day report:

~~I use my new folding keyboard and share my Canada Day experience and web photo album.~~

I am typing away – sort of – using my newly acquired foldup Targus keyboard that I bought last Friday evening. It is a full keyboard, but has a very different feel to it, as I mentioned before. This time I’m typing at my wooden table and not on with the board on my lap. It will all take some practice, which is why I’m doing this typing this way.

Yesterday was Canada Day, which I celebrated in various ways. Safeway had moved their 10&percent; Tuesday to next week, so I just bought a few items. On the way back I decided to treat myself with macaroons and a croissant from the Patisserie for my coffee.

Canada Day this year was a perfect setting for this reminiscing.

Mentally I recalled experiences, memories and emotions of the first years of my experience as a green immigrant in the City of Toronto, Weston, Timmins, Parry Sound, Mattagami Lake Mines, PQ and others. Looking back like that makes me realise how rich the process of migration is in experiences, albeit not always pleasant or welcome, but valuable and enriching. Canada Day this year was a perfect setting for this reminiscing.

After lunch and my snooze I decided to go for a walk and taking my trustyCanon A1300, I took shots of Canada Day related scenes. I walked the long way around through Lindsay Park, circling back along Elbow Towers on Twenty Six Avenue and then Fourth Street again, all in my district of Mission of course.

After supper I decided to make an album of my shots as a Canada Day project and posted it on my web site. I started at 6:30 p.m. and finished around ten pm with emails to my sons who know this district well.

After all this I enjoyed some wine, toasting to my Canada Day and my country, thankful for all the experiences I have accumulated in this land of my choice. The only thing missing is a good football team to represent us in the Fifa Cup! But, what not is may come.
