Yesterday Elisabeth and I met at the bottom of the spiral stairs leading up to the footbridge over MacLeod Trail to the Stampede grounds, all at the agreed time of 9:30am! We made our way to Weadick Ville, the little oasis of cool and calm at that time of the day.
Here we panned our visit. Elisabeth to go to the line for free tickets and I to the Agricultural Centre, where I spent about an hour. It is the new venue of this year and well designed to informing the public from young to old. Well done Federal Government I say, it was informative for a city slicker like me and so many others these days.
After collecting enough brochures on Canola for my younger sister I return at about ten to eleven I to the lineup spot where I’d left Elisabeth. She was near the front, with now several hundred behind her, all waiting for the wicket to open at eleven. Once Elisabeth had her tickets we returned to Weadick Ville for a nice 5$ ice cream. It was getting busy there now for lunch and the afternoon crowd, with the temps rising. For me it was time to start my walk home, while Elisabeth went on to take in the afternoon shows.
Later in the afternoon I first made a quick grocery shopping trip and turned quickly to wtch the Brazil Germany football match. However, by that time Brazil was already hopelessly behind with five goals against them, so I made my second shopping trip and just watched the last twenty minutes of this embarrassing debacle for the Brazilians. They had to play without their captain, as well as their top player and the team just crumpled in discouragement.
Time to give Juliet a call for this aft, because Holland is on deck against Argentina and I do not want to miss that duel! It turns out that Juliet is not into watching the football match and since it will most likely go to the very end of extra time, we decided to skip our visit for today, but have one tomorrow.
