Diary: Colder robbery laundry and sharing loss:

~~Winter is afoot, laundry foibles, a bank hold up and Sharen’s passing shared, were all in a day’s events yesterday!~~

Wintery, but not unseasonal is our weather this day, but tomorrow will be minus 18dC for the high! Ah, but we are such hardy folks, even though we do not like it!

The laundry got done and as I put in my walk, I stopped by at Henry’s laundromat to get their address for the laundry challenged tenants in this building. Some leave their stuff sitting for days in the laundry and furnace room, making things difficult for others.

Towards closing time the nearby Bank of Montreal got held up and hostages taken apparently. The police had several blocks of 4th street blocked and restaurants emptied out in search of the perpetrators, four caught with one on the loose. This is all according to the scuttle butt and police cars were still around at about ten pm!

This is a type of event out of the past, I would say except for the hostage taking. When I lived in Toronto in the sixties, bank hold ups were quite common, a plague almost.

It is an acknowledgement of loss, which has become more acceptable and valued in our society over the last decades.

I posted my daily entry, did an hour of sorting and called a friend to share my feelings about our mutual late friend Sharen. I discovered that this was a good thing to do for myself and also new for me to do so.

It is an acknowledgement of loss, which has become more acceptable and valued in our society over the last decades. Besides the stiff upper lip, we now also allow for the quivering chin!
