Diary: Commemorations and resolutions:

~~Yearend greetings and activities are reported, with ambitious resolutions elaborated.~~

The first entry for 2015 with a new file folder to boot. I have made the required new year’s resolutions for this year, which are quite elaborate. I even spent time and effort yesterday and the day before on ‘lining things up’.

This consisted of making the necessary physical arrangements - cleaning up, among others - such that the activities of my resolutions can take place! I will elaborate on those below and after a few weeks report how this is unfolding. The overall theme is dual in character, namely one of organising and the other of creative expression.

New year’s eve was uneventful with just a short visit by Michelle for a New Year’s whish and cheer. I did phone my sons, but they were not available, however I did talk to Shirley and wished her a good trip and family visit in her old country. This time her main reason for going is the passing of her mother at 94 years of age and the other a sort of long good bye, like my family visit last summer.

I also talked to my sisters over the holidays and my brother yesterday. My bro and wife are staying put, whereas Els had a very enjoyable trip to Vlieland island situated off Netherlands’ north coast.

I watched the yearend change over on the local TV channel, which was broadcast from the Olympic Plaza in front of our City Hall.

The Calgary Tower flame did not fire up this year, but instead we now have electrical lights that are more difficult to see from my place. The flame dated back to 1988, when it was installed for the Olympics and cost twenty thousand (20 000) $$ per hour to burn. Last year the whole tower top has been given a new mantle, so to speak and allows for a more varied display for different occasions.

I watched the yearend change over on the local TV channel, which was broadcast from the Olympic Plaza in front of our City Hall. That is a fine venue and draws lots of people. It puzzles me why people want to watch the change to the New Year from a place in a different time zone, such as Toronto or London.

What I did do, was browse the internet news sites to see the displays in the different major cities, which apparently does not include Amsterdam-:(! However, the whole country of the Netherlands becomes one large party with citizen’s fireworks and this is difficult to broadcast.

Personally I commemorated last year’s passing of Sharen, my friend since the beginning of 2004. We had coffee on Wednesday mornings from 2004 until about 2011, when visits became less fixed due to her moving to Cedar Villa of Extendicare in Wildwood SW.

Sharen and I always had a lively and often thoughtful discussion, with the unavoidable quick side remarks, which most of the time were as pointed as they were humorous.

It became her last ‘home’, such as these places are. Last year’s holiday visits were the last ones along with her 101st birthday in February. It was to be her last and she passed away on March 5, a day or two after I had visited with her.

Sharen and I always had a lively and often thoughtful discussion, with the unavoidable quick side remarks, which most of the time were as pointed as they were humorous. I miss those and I’m not the only one. We’re planning a kind of reunion of friends at her day of birth this coming February, which is less than a month away today!

Yesterday I visited Juliet in the late afternoon to reconnect and for us to wish each other a ‘forth-speed’ new year. This is a transliteration from the Dutch ‘voorspoedig’ New Year’s wish. The English knows ‘Godspeed’, which is similar, but applies here not. The Dutch also know ‘back-speed’, which is not what you wish for, but may get all the same.

Juliet cooked a nice Indian type dish, we had some wine and exchanged some chocolates as gifts. And of course, caught up on our family happenings and even explored extrasensory perception abilities. This reminds me to put ready the book by titled ‘Second Sight’, a down to earth and responsible account of the author’s abilities in this field of human sense experience.

That brings me back to today as I write and I will elaborate on my New Year’s resolutions …

That brings me back to today as I write and I will elaborate on my New Year’s resolutions, even though I already started on some of these activities last fall, such as the sorting of my ‘papers’, the cleaning up of piles and the organising of keep sakes.

I plan to continue with that, since there is much remains and have allotted a minimum of one hour per afternoon of the workweek to this task. In the corresponding mornings I will compose daily entries on Monday, Wednesday and Friday - hence today’s!

Whereas the Tuesday and Thursday am times are set aside for work on formulating my ideas on Existence Divine in a systematic manner. To this end I have located my hand written ten (10) cahiers from 2006 to 2009 and placed them in my main bookcase. After 2009 I did most of my writing in my daily entries on the computer and is posted on my website.

Sunday evening is designated to Left_Hand_Work, but with the new aspect of deploying the ‘Intuos’ digital drawing pad for this purpose. This is going to be a whole new adventure, with a slow start up in acquiring newly required skills.

However, I’m looking forward to exploring this new technique. It opens the way to sharing these drawing on the web directly, since I’ll be creating jpg files of this work as I do my drawing work.
And last but not least, each work weekday evening I want to spend an hour or so on my study of the Maya tomb edited by H.F. in preparation for my talk “Mayan Guidance” at the end of the winter season.

Not on this schedule are my daily housekeeping activities such as cooking, dishes, shopping, nor are my social visits which are usually five a week. It is an ambitious plan, but I know enough to schedule breaks and leisure times through out the day and week. So, I’ll give it a try and make adjustments as I go; wish me luck!
