Diary: Laundry fixed and Schermerhorn read:

~~As the dryer is repaired I read in Schermerhorn by Strengholt, editor and publisher.~~

Yesterday was taken up by the laundry activity. The dryer repair man came at 1-pm, just as I was getting ready to go to the laundromat with my wet washer loads. So, I waited for him to finish reading in the book1) on Schermerhorn who was prime minister of the Netherlands from May 1945 to May 1946.

He also presided over the process to lend independence to the colonies in the East Indies of the Dutch ‘empire’. Eventually the new nation of Indonesia emerged, after several years of painful and violent struggle.

Herman lend me this book and it is a fascinating read for me. That is because I was nine years old in 1945 and remember many of the names, some of the goings on, but did not read the papers. So, now I am finding out from one important source.

And in addition, Schermerhorn was an international pioneer in the field of Aerial mapping and Photogrammetry, which I later chose for my profession. So, it was a good thing this dryer broke down, but it was 4-pm before the last dryer load was done!

Schermerhorn was an international pioneer in the field of Aerial mapping and Photogrammetry, which I later chose for my profession.

In the evening I finished yesterday’s entry and posted it together with my Left_Hand drawing from last Sunday. I still am not quite satisfied with yesterday’s translation of the Dutch ‘toeverlaat’ into ‘refuge’. So, I’ll probably change it.

Writings: Daily human experience as discovery:

~~I define human life as an ongoing discovery process, which contains its meaning.~~

This morning I awoke with the notion that relates to yesterday, as follows. “Existence Divine is my ‘refuge’, discovering its meaning living my daily human life.”

This emphasises that the human experience is central and is a process of discovery and exploration. This in contrast to the notion that human life is of secondary importance, a set piece, defined as preordained which we need to realise.

Existence Divine is my ‘refuge’, discovering its meaning living my daily human life.

Our human experience is central and unique, but by no means flawless. This is where the discovery comes in, as to what is allowed and what is not. This discovery also includes the ordering that we find possible in certain aspects of our experience and observations.

This ordering is practiced in the sciences, which also show that many aspects of existence are inherently ‘in-orderable’ and give rise to the deepening of the mystery as I call that.

The mystery of existence as we know more about it, deepens as we order it, remaining as Existence Divine, where the known and not yet known have taken up residence!
<9:48am and 10:20 after much deliberation.~
