Diary: Pleasant surprises come my way:

~~Breakfast with Dianne as Elisabeth remains in Cuba. I continue to mull over my Maya talk.~~

Yesterday at this time, I was driving lead for Dianne to show her the way from the Galaxy Diner to the TransCanada highway west, which would take her partway to her home near Spokane, USA. Dianne and Elisabeth visited Cuba together for a week, but only Dianne was at the airport last Monday evening.

Elisabeth had been robbed of her passport and could not leave Cuba. However, she phoned from the Canadian embassy yesterday for me to be a reference of long standing and should be back here in a few days.

So, all in all, I was quite late on Monday and early on Tuesday for Galaxy breakfast with Dianne.

So, all in all, I was quite late on Monday and early on Tuesday for Galaxy breakfast with Dianne. I gave a BC roadmap to help plan her way back across the Okanagan via Revelstoke. We had an animated discussion and exchanged email handles before parting.

I did not feel like doing a lot once I was home at about 10:am yesterday. After some lunch and a snooze I went out for milk, the daily Globe and slept some more. Dinner followed, with dishes, the CBC-TV and internet news, while all through the day I kept referencing my Maya narrative.

Writings: Humanitys Maya object lesson:

~~Maya as revelation of Existence Divine and value framework conflict lessons for today.~~

During the evening yesterday, the idea emerged that I should give consideration to the concept of ‘Existence Divine’ in my daily life. I should learn to live from it and in this awareness as an Existence Divine human being, since I have held this concept as a valid view since 2006. After this long a time of testing and formulating it is time to apply it!

Not unrelated, beginning this morning that evening notion combined with the Maya in the sense that their tradition is one of the many revelations of Existence Divine within the human realm. The theme then becomes one of the Maya civilization being an example of Existence Divine revealed in that time, place, circumstance and its people in the setting of MesoAmerica.

As such, it is then later exposed to another such revelation in the form of West European Christianity. This meeting of these two value frame works lead to many and long lasting violent confrontations. At the same time, it also resulted in mutual adaptation, exchanges and partial merging of traditions, so typical of religious traditions.

Can we learn from this five century long process to our advantage? That is my question and our challenge!

This five hundred year long process of mutual interactions illustrates in historical times the way religious traditions have interacted since ancient human times and still do today. As such, this encounter of civilisations in MesoAmerica is an illustration of our present planet wide situation. Today also we are faced with violent clashes, peaceful adaptations, reformulation of customs, values and behaviours among much else.

Seen in this manner, the encounter of the Maya and West European Christian reference frame works forms an object lesson for us today. Can we learn from this five century long process to our advantage? That is my question and our challenge!
