Diary: Phone calls visits and Shiism study:

~~I call Els on ‘ascension’ day and recall phoning in the sixties. I visit Juliet and study Shi’ism some more.~~

Before I get going, I want to call my sister Els. I did and that makes it 9:59am with a few minutes for coffee added in! I’m not surprised, we usually talk for about a hour.

I often recall in amazement my first phone calls from Toronto back home in 1959/60. At that time you had to make an appointment with the overseas operator for date and time of the call, which had been conveyed by letter ahead of time to my family in Holland.

The cost was $3 per minute at that time [1960], when I earned 250$$ per month!

The cost was $3 per minute at that time, when I earned 250$$ per month! Now a call of an hour costs less than a greeting card, with its stamp of $1.80! The wonders of technology that we now take for granted call for such moments of recall to keep a guy honest, humble and appreciative!

Yesterday I visited Juliet as usual and this time we added a whole chapter to her story. This aft the plan is to have coffee with John, but I may have to take the bus, since it has started to rain.

So, it is as I suspected, the heritage and legacy of Manichaeism continued on in the religions and traditions that over took it.

I am continuing to read in the Encyclopaedia of Islam on the topic of Shi’ism, which has quite a few connections with Manichaeism as it turns out. And other, smaller sects have those as well to different degrees. So, it is as I suspected, the heritage and legacy of Manichaeism continued on in the religions and traditions that over took it.
<10:39am all inclusive!~
