Diary: Birthday celebration:

~~Overview of birthday events over the last few days.~~

Back at my station after some summer breaks in my routine, but there will be some more, because summer is the time for it. The weather cooled considerably from last Wednesday, but Friday night at the Mikado opera performance the evening was still pleasant with a jacket.

The opera is a parody on officialdom as we know it, but with a Japanese coating to remove the sting. Crookedness, bribery and subterfuge is always recognised as being of other countries and this opera informs us otherwise with a look in the mirror. And this performance made that quite clear in the current setting of the recent provincial and coming federal elections.

So, thanks John for this fine birthday treat and its preceding dinner all fixed in with the work and other family events and not to forget the fancy and thoughtful family cards.

So, thanks John for this fine birthday treat and its preceding dinner all fixed in with the work and other family events and not to forget the fancy and thoughtful family cards. Friends too celebrated this day with me in various ways. It makes me feel special, valued and appreciated, in particular now that I have entered my 80th year. So, thank you to all - family and friends, far and wide in BC, Holland, Switzerland - who honoured this special day in my life.

There is an additional and personal aspect to this birthday event as well, one on which I will elaborate under “Writings”, but only came to a full awareness and expression this morning as I was preparing to get up.

Writings: Culmination of my long quest:

~~Combining my notion of ‘apostleship’ with a message for today.~~

9:07am call out to Els and after coffee break, back at 10:06am.

This morning’s insight is a combination of older ideas, a childhood notion and insights from the foregoing days. The latter relate to and are aimed at my upcoming talk on November the 22nd ,as Herman asked me for my description for it last week, on which I’ve been concentrating. However, though I know my theme, a title has remained elusive.

The theme is that I aim at a resulting overview of the talks I have given since 2004, to wit 37 in total. The concluding insight of my long search is that religions need to switch from an external mission to an internal one. The message that has to be taught is about inter-religious tolerance, acceptance and accommodation of our human religious diversity. That insight became clear and definite last night as I noted it in my handwritten notes p.20 of the Blue Basic Norcom cahier dated 2015-05-28.

Now this search is complete. The notion of ‘Apostleship’ feels genuine and the message is the implementation of mutual tolerance among religions.

This morning as I thought about my dedication for this day, my old childhood notion of becoming an ‘apostle’ rose to awareness again, as it has done over the last few months or years even. The notion of apostleship felt o.k., but what was to be the message, was my question.

That message became clear as I just noted above and is the end result of my quest I might say, which started with my talk titled “In Search of the Sacred” in 2006.

Now this search is complete. The notion of ‘Apostleship’ feels genuine and the message is the implementation of mutual tolerance among religions. This is the necessary and sufficient condition - as mathematicians call that condition - to end the search and start the teaching.
