Yesterday Jack and I had coffee and conversation as he will be unavailable on coming Monday. I lend him two books titled ‘150 Years of Healing’ and ‘Medicine River’ by Thomas King, a well known Indigenous Canadian author. I also met Elisabeth in the morning as you had asked me to bend my ear. She came over to my place to yet to have a look at the nice plant that Derrick sent me through Edward.
After supper I completed the summary of extracts for the ‘Content’ category of the BlueNotes in the Norcom Cahier, which leaves two short categories to be done. I did not mark any of this up, but that will come in due time.
P.S: The Munk national leaders debate last night was a widely appreciated event and a significant improvement of the preceding ones by others.
In the news I noticed two barely noted items relating to the UN conference and the Syrian and Middle-Eastern sectarian wars. It is that the US will contribute a ‘peace force’ of twenty thousand man and China one of eight thousand. In addition there is talk about Canada and the US setting up joint strike units under common command.
All this indicates that the time for an international standing ’police force’ now has become a necessity, as no nation wants to be vilified as a war mongering bully on the international scene, even though rogue forces need to be contained to prevent destabilisation of the current ‘Syrian’ refuge type.
The African Union’s ‘peace force’ has been remarkably effective in my book. It shows that African nations are capable of cooperating effectively, making valuable contributions by containing and resolving international conflicts.
