Diary: Puzzle film and Syria:

~~Magical puzzle completed, watching celluloid film and the Syria posed challenge. ~~

Happy leap day today! February was snowless until this leap day, winter sending us a reminder that it is hanging around, mildly! Yesterday I completed the ‘College of Magical Knowledge’ puzzle. It is a sight to behold and I’ll take a daylight photo of it with my camera to get a good image.

Last Friday night John and I joined for dinner and then took in the CSIF 24th annual 100$ Film Festival in the Engineered Air theatre. The show consisted of about half a dozen short celluloid films, most of which were experimental in nature. It was different and a challenge, but not entertainment, which we had not been anticipating either.

Saturday was quiet, reading the weekend paper, a walk and some puzzling. On Sunday I walked back and forth to meet with my friends at the Palliser, from where Elisabeth joined me walking part way home. Michelle left for Saskatchewan on Friday to be with her mother, leaving me the key for her mailbox, just in case.

I don’t often comment on politics, but last Friday’s Syrian ‘cessation of hostilities’ held through the weekend. There is much pressure on all the parties to make it work on account of the refugee problem that it has triggered, which is threatening stability in European nations.

The required social solutions must become home made so to speak, migrating en mass is no longer an option.

Trump’s made in USA wall is a radical idea, but NATO’s ships are patrolling the Aegean sea returning rescued - stopped? - refugees back to Turkey. This year already more refugees have come into Europe than last year. It is a process that must be halted.

The ultimate solution is a world wide sharing of well being and security, because our world today can no longer tolerate the large people movements of the past. The required social solutions must become home made so to speak, migrating en mass is no longer an option.
