Today is my late mother’s birthday; congratulations are no longer in order twenty years after her passing, but commemorations certainly are, albeit that such are mixed in nature. This is not unusual, since much plays in the interactions between child and parent in the process of bringing and growing up.
So, Honour to both my parents and gratefulness for all they did to steer me right.
I always remind myself that in the ten commandments of the Old Testament, we are advised to honour our parents, whereas we are to love our neighbour and ‘God above all’. Love - as in being charitable towards your neighbour, yet honour your parent! There is some unexpected wisdom in that distinction that is worthwhile to keep in mind when recalling difficult scenes from your upbringing, is my experience.
So Honour to both my parents and gratefulness for all they did to steer me right.
Today the tax forms await me, tomorrow I expect to meet again with Juliet, on Thursday I’ll attempt lunch with John and on Friday it is lunch with Herman, who expects the write up for my August talk. Impressive, No? Actually, it is more that I am thankful to have all these activities in my life and that I’m able to attend to them!
Derrick - now Metta - sent me an email two days ago and left a phone message yesterday. I’m glad to hear from him and that he is doing o.k., though he is still looking to expand his counselling clientele.
Just phoned my sister Els on account of our late Mom’s birthday. She is doing fine except for the weather, which is colder than here, with light night frost of all things and rain and wind! However, last week was fine weather, as she went for a tour on her electric bicycle!
