The last quarter of this year starts here and now! August was an eventful month for me on account of my eightieth birthday celebrations - three plus all told. Accompanied with more than forty cards and many good wishes and some emails. Then, there was that special visit of my son Metta - formerly Derrick - who came over from Victoria to be at my very birthday date on Sunday, a much appreciated gesture. Thanks Metta!
Now it is on to a new month which starts with its call to labour in North America. Not a bad choice, since as kids we learned that this was the time that holiday free time ended and the discipline of learning began again. For me this means taking up the Alexandra writing sessions, along with some possible cultural activities with my son John or my friend Shirley.

Yesterday at London drugs I heard that Rodriguez - of Sugarman fame - was performing at the Jubilee. This the cashier told me as I was paying for the artist‘s “Cold Facts” LP - yes LP - priced at 45$$, my intended present for Shirley this coming week.
I was returning from my visit with Juliet where Shirley too was present. She had brought along her photos of Gandhi’s statue in London as mentioned yesterday. Our three way visit went very well and as expected I did not have say very much nor often! Juliet served us some very tasty ‘somosas’ along with the tea.
I also had a coffee with John in the morning. He has plans for a pricey training seminar in Las Vegas, which fits his present career reorientation. John being between opportunities, as I heard once when attending a series of UoC morning seminar in the latter 1980-ties, when I was in marketing for Sait.
Elisabeth and I chatted about ‘calfs and cows’ as the Dutch say in translation, when talking about this and that.
In the aft I met with Elisabeth at the ice cream shop besides Waves along 17th Ave. It was my rest stop since I had bought the black ink cartridge at London drugs and planned to walk on to Juliet’s on 3rd Ave. Elisabeth and I chatted about ‘calfs and cows’ as the Dutch say in translation, when talking about this and that. Both of us enjoy watching people and commenting, which was what we did at this perfect spot with weather, to do so.
So, I had a good walking exercise yesterday and was too puckered out to cook supper. I decided on a bread meal, recalling the two chicken somosas that Juliet had served me!
