After a warm Sunday at 10dC, we are now back to some more seasonal weather, but no new snow with road, paths and walks now clear. Hurray!
Last Saturday Annie brought her Christmas gift, a ‘washed ink drawing’ of her, which she made herself. She ‘drew’ not just a portrait, but her person in full, making it a very personal statement skilfully executed. Something totally different from what I was expecting, yet much admire and appreciate. She reluctantly parted with it and I was asked for a scan of it, which I did later on and sent it.

We went over to Purple Perk for coffee, where I let her choose a pastry as a treat, with dad’s permission, of course! John and Annie went on their way to the Glenbow to view a drawing exhibit, letting me off at 17th ave, which I walked from 2nd street east to new Globe and World news location near 9th street west. There I had a coffee at the Beano, followed with a walk back home with three new ink cartridges at 33$ from London Drugs in my pocket.
On Sunday I met with friends at the Palliser, where Thomas showed up, but favouring his neck a bit, still from that fall a week ago. Herman bowed out of our lunch again, because of medical appointments. I may suggest to Don that we do some lunches more frequently as he and I get along well and having such contact is important to me. Maybe Herman and I should set our lunch at once a month, instead of leaving it open and then cancelling it.

Today at 11am, Shirley and I meet again for coffee after a long holiday hiatus; I still have my little Christmas gift for her, which I’ll take with me. This afternoon John comes by to sign a sympathy card for Hugh, Ina’s brother, who’s son closed off his life at the age of 40. We have not seen Hugh for decades, but none the less such a loss needs to be recognised and shared in grief. That so called ‘life celebration’ designation seems not appropriate in a case such as this.
