Most of the snow was already gone by last night and now the rest will go today. The barber was not at his station yesterday, so I’ll have to try again. The Winner’s pants I bought will have to go back next week when I try the barber again.
The barber was not at his station yesterday, so I’ll have to try again.
I had lots of time to spare yesterday, so I had a coffee at De Ville’s on First street and the Mall. Once at Juliet’s she appeared upset and right away started over mistakes in chapter one, even though chapters 1, 2 and 3 have been edited by us. After some time we settled on doing our task of editing chapters 4, 5 and 6, which we completed.
After some borscht soup with bread I did the dishes and we chatting for a while before saying good bye, assuring each other of being friends that quarrel at times, but are friends none the less. Yet Juliet surprised me with a short call at midnight complaining that she was still upset. The tentative plan is to meet again on Friday, as she is busy today.
In our age of special effects shows, Stuart McLean stood his ground as an unequalled keeper of the oral tradition.
No work on my Narrative essay last night, but I did post my entry on my website. I also watched the CBC’s National tribute to Stuart McLean who passed away yesterday at 68 years of age. In our age of special effects shows, he stood his ground as an unequalled keeper of the oral tradition.
In preparation for a show anywhere, he would go into that town three or four days ahead of time and talk to anyone in town who wanted to talk, gathering material for his standard characters of Morley and ??. They were the persons in his narrative he would pretend to be reporting on! Stuart is already missed across the country and by me, but his gift’s product will become a national treasure for a long time.
‘Our Present World’ and ‘Modern Times’ are slated next as essay chapters. I’ll see how it goes.
Today lunch with Herman and the rest of the vacuuming, with most of it done. And hopefully an other chapter or section of my Narrative essay to be added to the two I have so far. ‘Our Present World’ and ‘Modern Times’ are slated next. I’ll see how it goes.
