Existence is a mystery. It is knowable in part and humans have discovered much about it, but the mystery appears to deepen as we know more. I call this mystery ‘Existence Divine’, because besides being ‘knowable’, it also appears autonomous to us as we experience our own existence within it.
This is the experience of the existence of the ‘Higher Power’ in which Existence Divine becomes understood and known.
Existence Divine includes all there is and we are in it. As we gain more knowledge and increase our understanding, we also experience the autonomous as the unexpected. This unexpected is revealed in terms and ways that are knowable by the humans who experience it. This is the experience of the existence of the ‘Higher Power’ in which Existence Divine becomes understood and known.
This knowing of Existence Divine as the higher power in terms of what can be understood is the revelation that evolves over time, into the particular tradition for the people concerned. Such tradition becomes defining of the community and personal identity of the particular group of human, who often define themselves as “the people”. This in order to set themselves apart from all the animals when humans started to populate the planet Earth.
This learning to live together is our present planet wide challenge and process that we need to address.
Over time this resulted in the formation of many differing traditions, each and every one adapted to and suited for the community involved. Now that we live on a well populated planet today, we humans must next learn to live with this rich variety of living traditions in the knowable Mystery that is Existence Divine, which includes all there is.
This learning to live together is our present planet wide challenge and process that we need to address. This begins with gaining an understanding of the very processes that are at hand and which we are subject to, but which we can also influence and manage if we want to. We humans can shape the outcome of these inevitable encountering and defining processes in which we are participants. We are also conscious and knowing participants, which makes us responsible for our actions and their consequences.
In short, do we fight and loose, share and keep or a bit of each, depending on the circumstances? That will be up to us, but responsible we are as conscious and ethical beings, that is as humans in our case on this planet within this Mystery of Existence Divine that includes all there is.
