Diary: White hats and more:

~~Snow in April, breakfast with colleagues, planned activities and a tart closing the chapter on the ’My Story‘ project.~~

A transliterated Dutch saying goes like this: ‘April so sweet, often gives us a white little treat.’ In Dutch you say that April gives you ‘een witte hoed’, a white hat that is! But those were sayings of my maternal grandmother who was born around 1885 when the winters were colder at the time in Holland. At our montane altitude of Calgary, we have the same experience.

Yesterday morning my colleagues and I had our monthly breakfast, at which I’m always warmly welcomed. With the eight of us, we had a good attendance, though it has been bigger in the past.

The new LRT cars show where the train is now, is going to, that station’s name and the current time.

I take the transit and had a new train which has many new display features. It shows where the train is now, is going to, that station’s name and the current time. The seats are not that comfortable, but there is lots of stand up lean-to room, with hip support pads along the sides. The doors open neatly by first both popping out and then sliding sideways to fully open up.

It makes me realise just how big an operation even just the transit alone is for any municipality. All to get you to your work on time, the thousands of us in a few hours of time.

Today is the dentist’s turn to do his best for me in a follow up from last week. To morrow I have coffee with John and may visit Ken, Thursday is lunch time with Herman and by Friday I should have done my tax return.

Juliet visits are kind of done, in part because her ‘My Story’ is now in the hands of her editor niece and also because her attitude towards me has become unpleasant, as I came to the end of typing her story. Be that as it may, the story is on its way to publication and that was Juliet's big wish. I am still in touch with her niece editor about pictures and some details.
