Time for my last entry of this month, as it will soon disappear on us. I was busy this week with making improvements to web site. In particular the home page and the feedback cum connection page. This redesign took quite a bit of to and fro, as I had not worked on html and css mark-up for about two years. My last serious site upgrade was in 2015, so my skills were rusty and at times, absent even!
It is my ‘tent-making’ like the apostle Paul is reputed to have practiced while he preached! So, I’m in good company that way, as I am working on ‘My Apostolic View’!
Surprisingly, I am quite happy with the result and pleased that the work and its outcome give me that much satisfaction. I think that this is in part because web work is a good break for me from all the religious and philosophical writing I’ve been engaged with, in prep for my talks. This aft I plan to be at the Olympic Plaza downtown where the CBC is hosting an entertainment event with Alberta bands - Key of A - from 3 to 6 pm. I’ll go on the early side as Calgary often has thunder storms around supper time. On the way back I plan a stop at ShelfLife for a book look. I was to have made a visit to Rene, but asked him to move it a few days as I was too busy today.
Yesterday I had lunch with Herman and Don this time, which was a good change from our usual tête a tête. Last Tuesday I had a planned dental visit to get my first ever denture fitted. I and it are still getting adjusted to each other, but the extra chewing power is welcome. My Dad had dentures even when I was child and he advised: ‘Keep your own teeth!’ Now at eighty I think I’m doing all right.
Last Monday - not to forget - I had coffee with John at ten am. He came back the previous Saturday from a week long course on computer specialties in Atlanta, Alabama. Good week he said, learned lots and made good contacts. He’s now close to having completed his re-schooling after his departure from Shaw in April 2016. And … he showed me a picture of a beaming Annie, who had her braces out!
That day will also be Peter Mansbridge’s last day as CBC anchor, …
I have rigged the colourful and small Canada 150 flag up in front of my big Xmas star and hung this assembly in my main street window. At night I shine one of my pod lights on it too, making for a pleasing celebratory display for Canada Day the sesquicentennial one! I also have a t-shirt with that colourful flag on it and several pins too. I also have taken some photos of this flag design and plan to apply it to my website as well. My Canada Day project. That day will also be Peter Mansbridge’s last day as CBC anchor, ending a thirty year career on that day broadcasting from Ottawa. I hate to see him leave, but that time has come even in this case.
