Diary: Lunch and celebratory books:

~~A long lunch with Herman and wire free reading in festive books.~~

Herman and I had a good and long lunch yesterday after a lacuna of many weeks; not that we went hungry though! We caught up on the events in our lives and particularly regarding my quick visit to my family in Holland, where my sister Els is seriously ill. That is now almost two weeks ago, but is still on my mind regularly.

We agreed that in the end Trump will have accomplished little of his goals, but that the way of doing politics will have been reset permanently.

We do not talk about politics much, but we did exchange views on the Trump-o-rama in the USA. We agreed that in the end Trump will have accomplished little of his goals, but that the way of doing politics will have been reset permanently.

Such treasures all to be enjoyed while relaxing in an easy chair, leafing from page to page by hand, eye and wire free!

In the evening I read in my Canada 150 celebration books and in the Dutch “Wooden Ships and Iron Men” choir partner: pekelfolk celebrating the Dutch Golden Age - of sailing for spices in the years 1592 to 1722. It relates 18 adventures with text, songs, many illustrations and includes two CD’s. An advance birthday present from my brother Okkie and his wife Theresita while I was in Holland from August 1 to 8. Such treasures all to be enjoyed while relaxing in an easy chair, leafing from page to page by hand, eye and wire free!
